Just Rely on God

I believe in my core that if we were to focus on the positive, more positive would come.  I love how God said pray often and make your prayers specific.  This last year has been a difficult year for most Americans, financially, physically, mentally and spiritually.  One blessing that has come to me personally during these hard times is the ability to lean on God and simply ask for grace and perseverance.  Sometimes we just need encouraging bible verses to lift us up.  Financially, some families can barely afford groceries.  Physically, more Americans are chronically ill and obesity is on the rise.  Mentally and spiritually, many cave into sin due to the stress of not knowing how to survive another day.

We live in a time when some people will look at God as a Santa Clause.  Unfortunately, he does not just hand out blessings when you ask for them.  He grows us through the difficult times and if we are lucky, we get to see a glimmer of his plan for our life.  Being faithful, humble, submissive and obedient is not always easy.  But when we do, we will be blessed for it.  God is not Santa Clause, but prayer is a gift.  You can get excited to pray, and hopeful the prayers will turn into your deepest desires.  I turn to prayer for strength and prayers for guidance and rely on God!  I pray you do to!  Prayer does not need to be fancy words or long boring prayers.  Simply talk to your god and grow a relationship.  When you listen to his voice, you will begin to hear it more often.

Psalm 121:7-8

The LORD will keep you from all harm–he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

I am thankful God will guard me you from every evil and will watch over my life, guiding me every step of the way.  Knowing this, I commit myself and all my cares and worries to Him. I commit everything in my life, my family, my friends, my marriage, my job, and my health; I give them all to God. If  things are too much to bear and sometimes the feeling of worry is about to crush you, you are not alone. We can not waste our energy worrying about the presidential debates, the negative non-stop newsfeed, our finances, physical, mental or spiritual situations… just rely on God to help!

Isaiah 41:13

For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Focus on the positive.  Be grateful for all the many blessings we do have, rather than what we do not have.  Praise comes from a Latin word meaning value or price.  Many terms are used to express praise in the Bible, including glory, blessing, thanksgiving, and hallelujah. Hallelujah is a literal transliteration of the Hebrew for “Praise the Lord.”  Praise is about God, it is not about us.  So, as we walk through some very tough times in our day to day life, remember these encouraging bible verses… because prayer is a powerful form a guidance and can give you strenght.  Do not fear, just rely on God!

And my tongue shall declare Your righteousness and Your praise all day long … Psalm 35:28
