As a cast member of P90X Yoga, I’m live on stage with Tony Horton in the Bahamas!  I am on the right side of Tony in the black sports bra and black shorts.  Watch below!

I have a love/hate relationship with yoga.  I fear it’s difficulty and find myself a bit ADD to enjoy the relaxing slow speed of the class.  However, as fast paced, over stimulated Americans, we need this more than ever.  As Tony says in the video above, “yeah, yoga is easy right? NOT!”

Yoga has been practiced for more than 5,000 years, and currently, close to 11 million Americans are enjoying its health benefits. Yoga can hardly be called a trend.  Yoga classes focus on learning physical poses, and also usually include some form of breathing technique and possibly a meditation technique as well. Some yoga classes are designed purely for relaxation.  The primary benefit of yoga is to reduce stress and improve concentration.

Why do I do yoga?

The short answer is that yoga makes me feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes me healthier in body, mind and spirit. Yoga lets you tune in, chill out, shape up — all at the same time.  Tony Horton even reminds us that as we age, yoga allows our body to age gracefully with flexibility.  Plus , as American’s we live a fast paced hectic life.  This is your time to truly relax and reduce stress.

I prefer my P90X YogaX in the comfort of my own home.  I admit, the first time I tried it, I only lasted 30 minutes.  But as I progressed through my 90 days of P90X, I began to get stronger with my breathing and holding the poses.
